A solar-powered mobile cinema – the Sol Cinema – will offer visitors to the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland’s offices a special cinematic experience at next month’s Culture Night.
Culture Night 2014 takes place on Friday, 19th September, and, for the second year in a row, the BAI building at 2-5 Warrington Place, Dublin 2 will be open to visitors of the event between 5pm – 11pm.
Besides the Sol Cinema, which will be showing film and TV projects funded by the BAI through its Sound & Vision II Scheme, there will also be a ‘listening lounge’ in which visitors will be able to sit back and listen to a selection of BAI funded radio programmes.
Speaking about the event Michael O’Keeffe, CEO of the BAI said: “This is the second year that the BAI has participated in Culture Night. Last year, we were delighted to welcome over 100 visitors through our doors and we hope to build on that number this year.
Since its inception, the Broadcasting Funding Scheme – Sound & Vision II has funded a significant amount of high-quality TV, film and radio programmes. Culture Night provides the BAI with an opportunity to showcase a variety of those programmes to the public and celebrate the success of the scheme. Having a listening lounge and the Sol Cinema on site will make it an evening to remember.”
No admission to the building will be charged and there is no need to obtain a ticket in advance.
