The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has today (Wednesday 2nd July) announced the decision of the Contract Awards Committee regarding the award of the contract for a niche, music-driven radio service for Dublin City and County.

A contract has been awarded in principle to Star Broadcasting Limited (t/a Sunshine 106.8FM) for the provision of the radio service for the franchise area of Dublin City and County. The Authority will now proceed to contract negotiations with the successful applicant and further details regarding the award of the contract will be issued in the coming months.

Editor’s Note
The contract for the niche music-driven service for Dublin City and County was the subject of a competitive licensing process, following the receipt of more than one expression of interest for the provision of the service. Two applicants qualified for assessment under the licensing process. Oral presentations were held in Dublin on 14th April 2014. Details of the applicant groups are provided in the table below.
