The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (“BAI”) announces today (25th July 2011) the publication of a research report which explores ways in which government-funded programme production schemes can contribute to the development and sustainability of the community radio sector.
“Cross-National Comparative Analysis of Community Radio Funding Schemes”The research project explores how the programme-making capacity within the community radio sector is enhanced through targeted funding scheme, both in Ireland and abroad. The research project details existing international models for programme production funding schemes and evaluates their relevance in an Irish context.
The BAI expects the research will contribute to and further inform, the debate on programme production funding schemes.The research was funded through the BCI’s 2009 Media Research Bursary Scheme. The purpose of the Scheme is to provide current and relevant research in areas of strategic interest to the Authority as well as the broadcasting sector.
