Radio Licensing Update: Community Radio Services

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (“BAI”) has today, 9th September, announced the receipt of the following applications for three community sound broadcasting services, serving communities in North East Dublin, North West Dublin and South Dublin. The three services were advertised by the BAI last June.

North East Dublin

An application was received from Dublin North East Community Communications Cooperative Society Ltd, broadcasting as Near FM, for a community sound broadcasting radio service, serving the community of North East Dublin. Near FM currently operates a 10-year community service which is due to expire on 20th June 2017.

North West Dublin

An application was received from Dublin 15 Community Broadcasting Cooperative Society Ltd, broadcasting as 92.5 Phoenix FM, for a community sound broadcasting radio service, serving the community of North West Dublin. 92.5 Phoenix FM currently operates a 10-year community sound broadcasting radio service which is due to expire on 30th June 2017.

South Dublin  

An application was received from Dublin South Local Broadcasting Co-Operative Society Ltd, broadcasting as Dublin South FM, for a community sound broadcasting, serving the community of South Dublin. Dublin South FM currently operates a 10-year community sound broadcasting radio service which is due to expire on 20th June 2017.

The BAI will now review the applications to ensure that all the information requested in the Guide to Submissions has been received and that the applications are valid.  On completion of this review, the applications will be made publicly available.
