Radio Licensing Update: BAI receives six applications for three local commercial radio services
The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has today (23rd September) announced the receipt of six applications for three sound broadcasting services, which were advertised on June 25th last. The relevant services and the number of applications received for each one are:
Two applications received for a local broad-format sound broadcasting service for North Donegal (the service is currently operated by Highland Radio and this contract will expire on 30th September 2014).
One application received for a local broad-format sound broadcasting service for Counties Laois, Offaly and Westmeath (the service is currently operated by Midlands 103 and this contract will expire on 30th September 2014).
Three applications received for a niche music-driven sound broadcasting service for Dublin City and County (the service is currently operated by Sunshine 106.8 and this contract will expire on 30th September 2014).
The BAI will now review the applications received to ensure that all information requested in the Guides to Submissions has been received and that the applications are valid. On completion of this review, the applications will be made publicly available. It is envisaged that the timeframe for public availability will be early to mid-October.
