Licensing Update: Commercial Sound Broadcasting Services

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (“BAI”) has today, 12th April 2016, announced details of the latest expressions of interest received for commercial sound broadcasting services advertised on 12th February last.

One expression of interest was received for each of the following services: a National Broad-format Service; a Regional Youth Music-driven Service, serving the south-west of the country; and, a Local Broad-format Service for Limerick City and County.

The Contract Awards Committee of the BAI will meet on 28th April next to consider the expressions of interest received and determine the next stage in the licensing process for each franchise area.
