The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (“BAI”) has today, 2nd December, announced details of the expressions of interest received for a quasi-national speech/news service and a music-driven alternative rock service for Dublin City and County. The Contract Awards Committee of the BAI sought Expressions of Interest for both services on the 2nd October last.
One expression of interest was received for the quasi-national speech/news service, while two expressions of interest were received for the music-driven, alternative rock service. The contract for the quasi-national speech/news service is currently held by News 106 Limited (trading as Newstalk 106-108FM), while the contract for the music-driven, alternative rock service is currently held by Dublin Rock Radio Limited (trading as TX FM).
The Contract Awards Committee of the BAI will meet on the 15th December next to consider the expressions of interest received and to determine the next stage in the licensing process for both services.
