Commercial Radio Licensing: BAI Contract Awards Committee to call for Expressions of Interest

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) will tomorrow (12th July 2012) invite expressions of interest from parties interested in securing a sound broadcasting contract on the FM band for the provision of a sound broadcasting service, in accordance with the BAI’s Commercial Radio Licensing Plan 2012-2013.

The BAI published its licensing plan in June and this sets out the number, nature and scope of sound broadcasting contracts for the period to the end of 2013.  A total of 24 sound broadcasting services will be licensed. The licensing process will be completed in two stages.

The first of these, commencing tomorrow, will invite expressions of interest for 12 sound broadcasting services. The services range from broad-format, local radio services to music-driven services targeting different age-groups in Munster (three services), Connaught/Ulster (four services), Leinster (three services) and Dublin (two services).

Full details of the services being sought will be available on www.bai.ie from tomorrow.

Interested parties have until Monday 10th September 2012 to present their expression of Interest to the BAI.
