Canada-Ireland projects receive over 51k in funding

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) and the Canada Media Fund (CMF) have today (23.11.18) announced an investment of over €51,500 to support the co-development of audiovisual content under the Canada-Ireland Co-development Incentive for Audio-Visual Projects.

Two Irish production companies will work with two Canadian companies in the development of the following projects.

  • From Ireland to the Arctic, Loosehorse Ltd. (Irish Applicant), Grandboy Inc. (Canadian Applicant), documentary series, development stage, BAI €11,700 (approx.), CMF €6,257 (approx.).
  • Lullaby, Subotica (Irish Applicant), Rezolution Pictures Int. Inc. (Canadian Applicant), documentary, development stage, BAI €20,000 (approx.), CMF €13,500 (approx.).

Producers interested in applying to receive funding through this incentive are advised that guidelines for the programme, which will reopen for a third consecutive year, will be announced in mid-April. The deadline for applications will be the end of June 2019.To be eligible for funding, the selected projects were required to be intended for broadcast by eligible Irish and Canadian broadcasters, involving at least one Irish producer and one Canadian producer. The incentive funds television projects and digital media extensions of such television projects, which fulfill both the objectives and themes of BAI’s Sound and Vision Scheme and the guidelines of the CMF. Projects were evaluated and chosen by a selection committee composed of representatives from both funding organisations.
