The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has today (25th September) signed contracts for three ten-year sound broadcasting services for the franchise areas of Dublin, Wexford and Wicklow. The services are operated by FM104, South East Radio, and East Coast Radio respectively.
Speaking at the contract signings, Bob Collins, Chairperson of the BAI, said: “We are delighted to sign contracts today with FM104, South East Radio and East Coast Radio. The BAI’s Broadcasting Services Strategy envisages that the people of Ireland will be served by a vibrant broadcasting sector which provides content and programming that caters for and reflects diversity within Irish society. Each service signing a contract today has contributed greatly to that vibrant mix in their respective franchise areas in the past and I am confident that they will continue to offer a unique service which is attuned to the needs of their listeners into the future. The BAI wishes each contractor continued success in serving their audiences over the duration of the next contract period.”
The BAI was represented at the contract signings by the Chairperson, Bob Collins and Michael O’Keeffe, Chief Executive. The signatories for each of the stations, together with the effective date for each new contract, are as follows:
