BAI signs contract with West Limerick Community Radio

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (“BAI”) has today, 15th February 2012, signed a sound broadcasting contract with WLCR FM Limited trading as West Limerick Community Radio.

Today’s contract signing marks the second licence for the broadcaster. The station has been on air since 2005 and broadcasts a wide range of programmes to communities in West Limerick with studios in Newcastle West, Rathkeale and Abbeyfeale.

Speaking at the contract signing, Michael O’Keeffe, Chief Executive of the BAI said: “I would like to congratulate West Limerick Community Radio on today’s contract signing. Community radio has proven to be an important development initiative for communities across the country. I wish the station every success.”

West Limerick Community Radio was represented at the signing by Mary Lee Geary (Chairperson) and William O’Regan (Director). The BAI was represented by John Waters, Member of the Authority and Michael O’Keeffe, Chief Executive.
