The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (“BAI”) has today (Monday 24th May) signed a ten-year sound broadcasting contract with City Broadcasting Limited (trading as Dublin’s Q102) for the provision of a music-based commercial sound broadcasting service for a general audience in the 35-55 age group on the FM band in Dublin City and County. This is Dublin’s Q102 second 10-year sound broadcasting contract for the provision of a music-based commercial sound broadcasting service to Dublin City and County. The service will provide a range of mainstream adult contemporary and soft adult contemporary music defined by eras of maximum influence for a general audience of Dubliners aged 35-55 years. This will be complimented by a Dublin-focused comprehensive current affairs, news, sport, weather and traffic information service. Speaking at the contract signing, Mr. Bob Collins, Chairperson of the BAI said: “Dublin’s Q102 is one of a range of commercial local radio services which provides quality and diversity in programming to listeners in the Dublin area. We wish them every success over the term of their second ten-year sound broadcasting contract”. Dublin’s Q102 was represented at the contract signing by Scott Williams, Chief Executive; Padraic White, Chairperson; John McCann, Group Chief Executive of UTV; Ronan McManamy, Compliance Officer; and, Jim Downey representing UTV Media. Mr. Bob Collins, Chairperson, and Michael O’Keeffe, Chief Executive, signed on behalf of the BAI. The service will commence broadcasting under the new contract on Tuesday 25th May 2010.
