BAI announces funding of €611k through Sectoral Learning & Development and Sponsorship programmes
The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has today (07.02.18) announced details of its 2018 funding allocation under its Sectoral Learning & Development and Sponsorship funding initiatives.
Funding of €610,800 has been approved by the BAI to support a range of initiatives, further details of which are outlined below.
Sectoral Learning and Development
For 2018, the BAI has allocated €467,800 to its sectoral learning and development initiative. A total of €355,300 will be allocated to 16 industry and representative organisations under the network funding strand of the programme. Successful groups include CRAOL (the representative body for community radio); Learning Waves (the training organisation for commercial radio broadcasters); Women on Air; the Community Television Association; Aerthonnta and the Writers’ Guild of Ireland.
Other sectoral learning and development initiatives for 2018 will include the Community Broadcasting Support Scheme; the Media Research Funding Scheme; gender initiatives and innovation schemes.
Sponsorship Scheme
Funding of €143,000 has been recommended for 20 events and activities under the BAI’s Sponsorship Scheme out of a total of 35 applications. New funding recipients in 2018 include access>CINEMA; Harp Productions: Oireachtas Media Awards and the Summit on Women in the International Film Industry.
Commenting, BAI Chief Executive, Michael O’Keeffe said: “Through our sectoral learning and development programme, we have created innovative and strategic alliances and promoted a culture of learning and development in the broadcasting sector. Aligned to the BAI’s strategic objectives, each funding award announced today helps to enhance the profile of the Authority and to raise awareness of what we aim to achieve under our Statement of Strategy 2017-2019.”
