Applications sought for Special Interest Community Radio Service for Dublin City

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (“the BAI”) has today (13th November 2015) placed a public notice in the Evening Herald, seeking applications for the provision of a special interest community sound broadcasting service for Dublin City.  The service is currently operated by Dublin City FM and this contract will expire on 31st August 2016.

The service should be primarily talk-based in nature, with a community focus.  It should address the interests of, and seek to provide a social benefit to, people in Dublin City and should be non-profit maximising.  It should also facilitate access to, and involvement in, the service by individuals and groups living in the franchise area.

The BAI has developed a Guide to Submissions for this special interest community radio service and it requires that any application received must be in accordance with the detailed format set out in the Guide.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon on Wednesday, 11th February 2016.
