Application sought for Community Radio Service for Tramore

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has today (9th February) announced that it is seeking an application for the provision of a community radio service for Tramore and its Environs.  A public notice seeking the application has been placed in the relevant local paper.

A number of 100-day pilot community radio services have been operated in the Tramore area by Tramore Community Radio Limited (trading as Tramore Community Radio). The application process announced by the BAI today, seeks to establish a community radio service for the area on a long-term basis.

The community radio service advertised for Tramore and its Environs should be primarily talk-based in nature, with a community focus.  It should address the interests of, and seek to provide a social benefit to, people in the Tramore area and should be non-profit maximising. It should also facilitate access to, and involvement in, the service by individuals and groups living in the franchise area.

The BAI has developed a Guide to Submissions for the provision of a community radio for Tramore and its Environs in order to assist with the application process.  Further details regarding the application process and access to the relevant documents can be found here.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon on Monday 9th May.
