Broadcasting Services Strategy

Consultation on the Commercial Radio Licensing Plan

The BAI is also seeking the views of interested parties about the current make up of Commercial Radio franchise areas in the State. The consultation is being undertaken as part of the BAI’s work on developing a BAI Licensing Plan, further to requirements contained in the Broadcasting Act 2009.

When complete, the plan will outline the range and type of commercial radio services that the BAI may seek to license over the 2012-2013 period with an emphasis on existing services whose broadcasting contracts expire in the period to 2014.

A consultation document has been prepared which contains information on the current radio landscape and asks a number of questions regarding the Authority’s proposals.  Interested parties have until Friday 13th April 2012 to submit their responses either by post or email to the BAI.
