The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (“BAI”) has today, 20th August 2015, announced details of its Community Broadcasting Support Scheme 2015.
The Scheme, which has a total available fund of €30,000, is open to all fully licensed Community and Community of Interest TV and radio stations across the country. It is specifically designed to offer funding support to community and community of interest broadcasters to enable them to further advance from an organisational development perspective.
Organisational development reviews that can be funded through the scheme include evaluations of internal processes or external environments, governance development, adherence to good financial management practice, the building of strong teams and work to ensure that stations are relevant to the communities they serve.
Previous funding provided by the BAI through the Community Broadcasting Support Scheme has supported evaluations including strategic planning for service development on a long-term basis, understanding and meeting audience needs, developing good governance through training and policy development and implementation and, capacity building for the broadcaster within the community it serves.
Speaking about the scheme, Celene Craig, Deputy CEO of the BAI said “We are pleased to launch this year’s Community Broadcasting Support Scheme. The previous operation of the Scheme has been the subject of consultation and review and we have taken on board and implemented feedback received in order the make the Scheme more accessible and relevant to community broadcasters. The BAI is confident that the Scheme remains an effective way of supporting the organisational development of individual community services and the community broadcasting sector more generally.”
The relevant scheme documents are available here.
The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 1st October 2015 at 12 noon. Funding decisions are expected to be announced by the end of October.
