BAI Announces Licensing Decision for Sligo, North Leitrim and South Donegal Franchise Area
The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has today (Monday 28th July) announced the decision of the Contract Awards Committee regarding the award of the contract for a local, broad-format radio service for Sligo, North Leitrim and South Donegal.
A contract has been awarded in principle to North West Broadcasting Limited (t/a Ocean FM) for the provision of the radio service for the franchise area of Sligo, North Leitrim and South Donegal. The Authority will now proceed to contract negotiations with the successful applicant and further details regarding the award of the contract will be issued in the coming months.

The contract for the local broad-format service for Sligo, North Leitrim and South Donegal was the subject of a competitive licensing process, following the receipt of more than one expression of interest for the provision of the service. Two applicants qualified for assessment under the licensing process. Oral presentations were held in Sligo on 28th April 2014. Details of the applicant groups are provided in the table below.
