Broadcasting Complaint Decisions Released

Under the Broadcasting Act 2009, effective as of 1 October 2009, the duties and responsibilities of the Broadcasting Complaints Commission (BCC) were transferred to the newly established Broadcasting Authority of Ireland. The Authority is now releasing the decisions made at the final Board meeting of the BCC which was held on 25 September 2009.
At this meeting the Commission adjudicated upon 20 complaints. The Commission upheld 16, rejected one and determined one to be invalid. It was agreed to defer two complaints in order to seek further information to facilitate a thorough assessment. The summaries of the complaints on which full adjudications were made are accessible on the Authority’s website .
